just so I understand the verizon sim card you had you are taking out of your "hotspot" device and putting the sim into the insta antenna on top of rig? does it not matter what device the sim is in ?

Starlink Gen 3 panel works well. I use a pole 24’ mounted 5G cell repeater, works well during week but when density goes up speeds really crap out.

Finding a little pile of (domestic) dog doo is the best way to ruin a spot for me, because it means I have to clean up after someone else's pooch, or worry about my kids tracking around. If you enjoyed that Ferry ride, you have to travel to Newfoundland, or even better travel to BC and take the ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, it is 18 hours through some of the most spectacular views in the world. Essentially the same route for ALL the Alaskan Cruise ships. Glad to know you have a Canadian on Board.

Thing to note….get the long bed truck but move up to the 450 or 4500 as they have a significantly tighter turning radius than the 350 or 3500 trucks.

I hate to disappoint, but after owning insty connect for over a year, I have learned that the flash module degradation has increased to significant loss at three months. Meaning. You should maintain your starlink in order to update insty ever 60 to 90 days. Else, it won't connect to update itself. Oh, and Nick already knows this issue.

Welcome to the East. Road closures are not unique to this part of the country, just your luck I guess. We just got home from a three week round thru several western states plus the trip back to N,C. and sat in two complete road closures due to accidents on that trip. Hopefully the rest of your time will be smooth sailing. Keep in mind the inconvenience for you is a really bad day for the folks involved in the accident.

Wouldn't there be an issue with interference by running the ethernet under the solar panels and in the same conduit that runs to the batteries? I know that if you have to cross a power line in a home you should do it 90° to the other line, but that's AC instead of DC, so maybe that's different. Or did they say they were using a shielded cable (and would that help in this case)?

You an see them = ironic that people who want to enjoy nature are paying for an entitlement that affords us all a RUINED night sky. Very unhealthy in all aspects. Please don't support it. Musk is not regulated and is allowed to pollute OUR NIGHT SKY with satellites. Look up and you'll see them polluting the sky. Please don't support Starlink.

Thanks for your thoughtful discussion of everything that is involved in e-biking, in a survey video that wasn’t an hour long. The Radster Trail was on my short list, but I ended up getting a Velotric Discover 2, which I’m very happy with. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the tow package on my CRV, so unless I wanted a folding bike, I’ll be riding this from home. I did get a second battery, which means I won’t have to worry about range (and charging is easy, being at home). The only chink in the excellent Rad bikes was the 2 amp charger. The Velotric has a 3 amp charger, which is not the fastest, but would be hours faster charging these massive e-bike batteries. They both have exceptionally great, safe batteries, which is important. Your discussion of charging was good. Essentially, watt hours is the total power stored in the battery, and is equal to amps x volts. Because your 12 volt charging system is charging a 48 volt battery, it will take 4 times the amp hours to charge the battery. I guess it’s easier to see with a picture than with discussion. I’ll have to research the slime, as I’ve heard it mentioned quite a bit. That would be worth a video, what it is, how you apply it, etc. I stupidly bought the biggest, 15 rated, Abus folding lock, only to find out it won’t mount to the standard mounting points, which means I don’t have a good way to mount it in my bike. The next smaller one will have to do, as I really want one that is convenient and always on the bike. Thanks for reminding me about the alarms, that seems like a good idea, too. Oh, the D2 I got also has built in Apple Find My, which is nice. The D2 also came with a MIK system rack. I got a nice set of panniers (Ibera, from Amazon). Unfortunately, the battery is too long for the purpose-built top bag, but I use it to carry my battery powered air pump, tool kit, extra tube, etc. I like the top bag you discuss that has fold out panniers. I like the panniers I have, but am thinking about getting a top bag, as well, for those non grocery outings. I do like the flexibility of the easy on/off MIK system. Sorry for the long comment, but I always enjoy reading other comments that add meat to the bone, so to speak. Thanks again!

This is a write up I did several years ago for my Jayco North Point Owners forum: TOW VEHICLE EDUCATION 101 Many of you will not like this post. However what I am about to share is very important. This information is for the already seasoned veterans & the newbies just learning. It is very obvious that over half of the towable RV's on the road today are exceeding the tow vehicle limits. Here is a real world scenario: A 2017 Jayco North Point has a GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (max loaded weight) of 16,500 lbs. I've heard people comment about this rig only having two 7,000 lb axles (14,000 lb capacity). This is where the tow vehicle comes into play. You CAN have UP TO 25% of the GVWR of the trailer resting in the bed of your truck! That is 4,125 LBS in pin weight!!! The dry hitch rating 2,725 lbs. This weight alone will EXCEED the payload of almost any 250/2500 diesel pickup on the market today. (The 377 is the most popular, best selling floor plan for North Point & a perfect example for this scenario. This is a very nose heavy fifth wheel). Now, keep in mind, you need to account for the weight of the hitch, additional cargo, passengers and maybe pets. This all subtracts from your available payload. Now lets decide to pull it with that brand new F250 Platinum 6.7 liter Power Stroke Diesel you just bought. (Door placard as pictured). The available payload of this truck is 2,134 lbs. Dry pin weight alone will be over 591 lbs. Again, a loaded 377 NP can be 4,125 lbs in pin weight. Now to add that loaded trailer and you're now 1,991 lbs over payload capacity. Now, let's not forget to add hitch weight, passengers and additional cargo... Get the picture? Fact: You WILL run out of payload before reaching max towing (in most cases). (A comparably equipped gasoline-powered truck will have greater payload but less towing capacity) Fact: The auto industry is incredibly misleading with their (fine print) capabilities of tow vehicles. Fact: Air bags DO NOT INCREASE PAYLOAD! Fact of the matter is, these rigs are as large as semi's. And yet everyone thinks that a 250/2500 is the be all end all to their towing solutions. When in reality, they're even out of the realm of most 350/3500 SRW (Single Rear Wheel) as well. This especially goes for the people who want to tow fifth wheels with 150/1500's. Even if your trailer is an HT/Light. DO NOT let the max towing numbers fool you! PAYLOAD is so INCREDIBLY important! Remember, a quarter of the weight of a fifth wheel is in the bed! I travel all over this nation and see too many overloaded with their tail wagging the dog. I've seen too many accidents as well. This post is not up for debate. It isn't to insult. The sole purpose is to EDUCATE! The only argument can be this: An F450 has less payload than the same comparably equipped F350 but has greater max towing. The F350 & F450 share the same 14,000 lb GVWR to keep it as a class III truck. However, the F450 has heavier components such as suspension, wide track front end, bigger wheels & brakes etc. so all the heavier components will subtract from that 14,000 lb GVWR. Leaving it with less payload than an F350. Again the F350 components are lighter subtracting from the same 14,000 lb GVWR. To the people that says "it tows just fine" most likely are white knuckling it and hasn't felt the difference in a more capable vehicle. Fortunately most states don't require you to weigh at weigh stations. However if they did, they would shut down over half the rigs on the road. Please look for your door placard in the driver side door jamb. If you do not have the "the combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed" or "payload capacity" etc. wording then you need to do as follows: Go to the scales. Weigh fully loaded full of fuel, cargo, DEF & passengers. To figure your payload weigh your truck like I mentioned above. Then go to your door placard. Get the GVWR of the truck. Subtract your total weight weighed at the scale. This will give you what you have left for your payload/pin weight. You can do this mathematically hooked up but if you weigh your trailer separately you can know the exact weight of the trailer and then your truck. That way when you're hooked up weighing combined, you can calculate exactly what you have in pin weight. The numbers WILL surprise you! Please note: the auto industry gives their data on mostly stripped model baseline vehicles that are generally 2WD & single cab (on trucks). So, the more options you add, the less payload your vehicle will have... Again, I am not trying to criticize or insult anyone. I just want to educate. Our tow vehicles are a very large investment as well and it's not that easy to buy more trucks. So if you can get what you need the first time, you will be able to tow safely and with confidence.

The one thing that I haven't seen you mention and that in watching your video and looking over your setup is something that you have and everybody has a problem with except for fifth wheels that are mounted from factory and that is that your fifth wheel is too far back your fifth wheel should not be directly over your rear axle when mounting a fifth wheel it will vary greatly from truck to truck it is very dependent on your axle setup and your wheelbase but what you're looking for is between a 20/80 and a 90/10 split You want between 10 and 20% of the weight of the hitch to be distributed to your front axle and the rest to be on the rear axle in your particular instance I would say your fifth wheel probably has to get moved forward about an inch not only will that help you get alot closer to the gcvwr ratings but it will allow you to do so much more safely for all the resons you can think of think about it this way its all a percentage and with the rear axle being over 100% loaded and the front axle being well under the potential for trailer driving goes up and up with ever presentage of difference ("What is trailer driving?" i hear you all asking well it goes by many names picture this you go to make a sharp turn a little to fast or swerve around something on the interstate at speed you turn your wheel the truck moves and you turn your wheel back but the it never comes back and your truck just keeps turning in the first direction no matter what you do with your steering wheel until you jackknife and hopefully come to a stop or jackknife and flip)
